About the Program

Action Learning is used successfully by industry and government organizations to solve critical business and leadership challenges while simultaneously developing the next generation of leaders. The core of Action Learning, as developed by its creator Revans, can be summarized by two important precepts:

  1. When change is faster than learning, organizations fail; when learning is as fast as or faster than change, organizations survive and are likely to become more successful.
  2. Leaders learn best from each other through the use of questions and reflection to develop clarity and insights that help them adapt to challenges they face.

Objectives: During this session, participants will learn and experience that Action Learning
has three powerful benefits.

First, it provides leaders with a high-impact problem solving method with several unique and counter-intuitive attributes. It emphasizes the pre-eminence of questions over answers. Great questions lead to clarity and breakthrough solutions. Action Learning mandates that groups first clarify the issue before proceeding to solutions. It leverages the power of non-experts and diverse perspectives.

Second, Action Learning allows leaders to experience the power of peer collaboration. Enduring peer relationships is a frequent outcome of participation in Action Learning groups. Leveraging the power of peers is rapidly becoming one of the most important means of individual and organization development.

Third, the experience provides participants with many of the core skills necessary to succeed as leaders in the 21st century organization.
