President’s Message for October 2009

Our Chapter's Knowledge Management System

Thanks to our fabulous web master, John Faucher, you are starting to see on our web site the collection of our chapter's history, important documents, and other files relative to organizational memory.

John created for us a new section on our web site called History of the Potomac Chapter. Under that page, you will notice links to lists of:

  • Our Past Presidents
  • Potomac Chapter members who have served as International Society Presidents
  • Honorary Life Members
Honorary life membership is a prestigious award because honorees have to be nominated by two consecutive Board of Directors for extensive contributions to the chapter and contributions to the field of performance technology. The next time you see one of our Honorary Life Members, you might want to thank the person for service to our chapter and profession.

Also, I've asked John to post:

  • A tribute to Gabe Ofiesh, one of the founding members of the National Society for Programmed Instruction as the International Society was called at first, and a member of our chapter.
  • Our revised Constitution that was unanimously approved by members.
  • Minutes of our Board meetings so you can track the issues we face and our progress in meeting your needs.

Mark Boccia, our Learning Technology Chair, videotapes our live sessions and posts the recordings under the section on our web site, Program Videos. Dan Elbert, who is on our Learning Technology Committee, recorded last month's webinar with Rick Rummler. Dan soon will be posting this recording on the Program Videos page.

Igor Saracevic, also on the Learning Technology Committee, takes photos during our live sessions and posts them for us. You can find these photos under the Programs/Recent Events pages.

Thanks to many dedicated folks we are amassing a depository of documents that, over time, will comprise our knowledge management system. I offer my deepest thanks to all of you who are involved in this effort.
